Frequently asked questions
Can I scan a QR code from a saved photo or screenshot?
Yes — that is what the upload tab is for. Drop any JPG/PNG/WebP containing a QR code and it is decoded locally in your browser.
Why is my camera not working?
The page needs camera permission (check the padlock icon in the address bar) and a secure connection — it always runs over HTTPS. Browser support for camera capture is best in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Does it scan barcodes too?
No — this scanner decodes QR codes only, which keeps it lightweight and fully client-side. For 1D barcodes (EAN, UPC), a dedicated scanner app is more reliable.
